Atlanpole, land of innovation
Technopole is a global concept of economic development based on innovation. It is mainly supported by a strong partnership between local authorities, chambers of commerce and University. The constitution of such an unified network was made possible just because networking and incubation play a major role in technopoles strategies.
Since its creation in 1987, ATLANPOLE has integrated itself into a broad, open environment. Its mission: use innovation to stimulate economic activity in the Loire estuary economic zone (the Loire-Atlantique, Vendee and Choletais areas). Within this zone, any business can become "Atlanpolitan" provided that it innovates and creates links with the key players from the local hi-tech community (other companies, universities and research organizations).
Promoting innovation in the Nantes-Saint Nazaire metropolitan area's economic basin
Boasting a European Business Innovation Center since 1997 and given official recognition as a company incubator by the French Ministry of Research in 1999, the Nantes Atlantique technopole has reinforced its skills base and infrastructure in order to produce more spin-outs and innovative projects and to provide ever more professional business support.
In the international community, Atlanpole is involved mainly in the information technology, biotechnology and industrial innovation sectors, and more recently in marine bio-resources. For each of these sectors, Atlanpole plays an essential role in the corresponding competitiveness clusters. The technology cluster is the head of Atlanpole Biotherapies. For Images & Networks, Atlanpole is the operational liaison in the Pays de la Loire region and, for EMC2, providing ongoing operational support.
Over the past several years, Atlanpole has invested substantially in the emergence and structuring of a new economic sector devoted to putting marine bio-resources to productive use. Christened Atlanpole Blue Cluster, it first appeared at the 2008 BioMarine Convention. Three years later, Atlanpole Blue Cluster is made up of some one hundred players in the west of France and Atlanpole co-organizes BioMarine Business Convention 2011 in Nantes.
As a member of the French National Innovation Network ( Retis), the European Business & Innovation Centre Network ( EBN) and the International Association of Science Parks ( IASP), ATLANPOLE has been awarded ISO 9001. Atlanpole is also supported by European Union through the FEDER fund.
